Kondator is the Swedish design brand that offers stylish and innovative workplace accessories. We know that the details make all the difference in the workplace. In the place where we spend most of our waking hours. That is why it is important to have accessories that make everything work whilst at the same time being a sleek part of the interior. The passion for details is also the reason why we have managed to grow from the one-man company that was founded in 1983 to being an ambassador for Swedish design with customers all over the world.
For us at Kondator, product development and design are the most essential parts of our business and we are driven by finding simple, beautiful solutions to complex challenges. Often in innovative collaborations with Swedish designers. And if there is one thing we have learned during these almost four decades, it is that workplaces are always changing. It is by being responsive to both the present and the future that we succeed in being at the forefront. Today, your workplace can be in an office, a co-working space, a hotel lounge, at home – or maybe a combination of everything. No matter where, it is equally important that even the small details both work and look good.
Our products are available within interior design, electricity, lighting and ergonomics for all types of working life. Everything we do is according to Swedish design tradition, where function and innovation meet stylish design.
SUSTAINABILITY.
Joint efforts are needed to minimise climate changes. At Kondator, we are constantly reviewing what we can do to reduce our footprint and think long-term. It can be about everything from having recycled materials in our products and creating energy-efficient lighting to buying renewable electricity. Sustainability for us is also to offer smart quality products with a timeless design that lasts longer.
OUR STORY.
Our story started with the insight that our offices often lacked the smart and technical accessories that make everything work. It was in 1983 that our founder Jan Westerlund started Kondator out of his kitchen in Tyresö, south of Stockholm. From the start our ambition has always been to offer functional and innovative accessories for the workplace and office. To be leaders rather than followers when it comes to development and progress. Forty years later this ambition is what made Kondator move from an idea at a kitchen table to the international design company for workplace accessories that we are today.
The first forty years at Kondator – An innovative entrepreneurial company
From the start it didn’t take long before Jan’s kitchen became too small and Kondator made the move to new premises that quickly filled with employees. There was a strong need to modernise our offices and demands for workplace accessories were increasing. The insight that a good work environment was important was gaining ground and therefore we at Kondator expanded our products to include the latest solutions within ergonomics.
In 2004 we took our first steps on to the international market. The interest all over Europe was increasing fast and the Nordic countries, Germany and Benelux quickly became our main markets. Flagship products such as Liftsystem, Conceptum and Powerdot were launched and rapidly became best sellers.

Kondator today
Just like many other successful Swedish brands, Kondator’s roots come from generations of Swedish entrepreneurship and tech innovations.
We combine this with a long tradition of contemporary Swedish design. A combination that makes our products unique on the international market.
From 2016 the Kondator legacy within innovation and design is carried on by the corporate tech group Lagercrantz who took over the ownership with the ambition to keep expanding on the international market. Our Swedish heritage is the foundation for everything we do today, and it also shapes our thoughts regarding the future.
We got a big token of appreciation when our unique cable solution Iris Powerhub was rewarded with the prestigious design award The Red Dot: Product Design 2021.

How do we work in five years? We know this is hard to predict. Today’s workplace looks a lot different than it did ten years ago and most likely the development will move even faster going forward. We see big opportunities in how new accessories can improve and facilitate our workplace – whether that’s in an office, in a co-working space, a hotel lounge or at home.
This is why our vision for the future is to allow our innovation driven culture to meet the needs of the future – on a global scale. At Kondator we believe that the workplace around the world deserves both innovative and stylish details that make it all work.
